Booking

It's all online!

If you must use snail mail, send a CD of your music and press kit to:
Broad Street Cafe Booking Agent
1116 Broad Street
Durham, NC 27705

But, really, we'd rather you use this form instead.

  • We get a LOT of booking requests, so please be patient and keep in mind that we normally book months in advance.

  • Be sure that you have read, understand, and agree to the "BSC Performance Information" BEFORE you submit the form.

  • If you have already used this form, and it has been at least a month you can submit another online form.

  • If you have already played at the BSC, and would like to book another show, you must fill out this form again.

BSC Performance Information

Who We Are:

The Broad Street Café is a non-smoking, all-ages restaurant and music venue. We offer wonderful wood-fired pizza, soups, salads, sandwiches and specials - all with a creative twist. We have a full-service bar with 10 beers on tap, more than 20 bottled beers, fine wine, mixed drinks, and high quality coffee. The Broad Street Cafe has live music five nights a week, with a diversity of styles. Weekly programming includes: Bluegrass, Open Mic/Blues, Folk, Indie, and Rock. We have a large stage that musicians love, an excellent sound system and trained sound experts ...and we don’t charge cover prices, except for special events.

Our Website (for directions, menu, schedule, etc):  www.TheBroadStreetCafe.com
Full Schedule:  www.thebroadstreetcafe.com/events.html

LOAD IN AND SOUND CHECK (Thursday through Saturday):

The stage has a section for equipment storage located immediately to your left as you enter the Broad Street (front) door; please do not put equipment in the dining area, against walls, etc. We need all available space for seating and dining guests.

  • Early Show - Load-in 7:00 to 7:30, start time 8:00 PM (unless otherwise agreed upon)
8pm performers should be prepared to be finished with their set at 9:30pm.

  • Late Show - Load-in 9:15 to 9:45, start time 10:00 PM (unless otherwise agreed upon)
On Friday and Saturday, 10pm bands are expected to play until at least midnight.

**NOTE: Any acts scheduled for our pre-10pm shows should understand that they will be performing during our nightly dinner service and that the music performed should be a comfortable volume for patrons.  We want people to know they can come before 10pm for a meal without having to shout over dinner. NO DRUM KITS DURING 8PM SHOWS.

A sound person is present for every show. THEY ARE IN CHARGE. They know the sound equipment and they know the room and they know how to make you sound your best. Please listen to them and help them to help you.

PAYMENT FOR BANDS:

8PM Shows:

  • Food/Beverages
All bands members (not friends/family/guests) will be provided:
    - 50% off any single dinner entree
    - 50% off beverages

    and either...

  • Tip Jar

    or

  • 5% of Sales (from time you start until you finish) plus Tip Jar

The 5% deal for 8pm shows is dependent on past performance at the Cafe. If you are new and unproven (with regards to being a good fit w/ the Cafe and drawing a crowd) then you'll probably just be working for tip jar until you have a track record.

10PM (and later) Shows:

  • Food/Beverages
All bands members (not friends/family/guests) will be provided:
    - 50% off any single dinner entree
    - 50% off beverages

    and either...

  • Tip Jar

    or

  • 10% of Sales (from time you start until you finish) plus Tip Jar

    or

  • Cover Charge - occasionally, we do cover charges in which case you will get the entire cover charge (but no % of sales) plus Tip Jar. The Cafe will provide a door person. On cover charge shows, $100 will be taken out of the door to cover sound staff and door management.

The Tip Jar vs 10% vs Cover Charge deal for 10pm shows is dependent on past performance at the Cafe. If you are new and unproven (with regards to being a good fit w/ the Cafe and drawing a crowd) then you'll probably just be working for tip jar until you have a track record.

Please secure a credit card for your tab and give the bar staff the names of your band members.
All food/drink orders for the band must be made through the bar.
Remember, the Cafe staff is working hard and deserves your tips.

PASSING THE TIP JAR is a proven way to, sometimes dramatically, increase your payout. Please take the time to introduce yourself to the audience and mention the tip jar. If you can, get one of your friends or bring someone to pass the tip jar.

Note:  The above terms are subject to change based on agreements made between artist/s and management.

WHAT WE ASK OF YOU:

1.  PROMOTIONS & PUBLICITY.  Please promote the event, our menu and bar, and bring as many fans as you can. The reality of the situation is the more folks you bring... the better we do... the better you do. You may be the greatest thing since sliced bread, but if you don't draw a crowd we can't continue to book you.

  • You MUST provide BSC with at least six flyers (eight would be better) at least two weeks before the date of the show. Do not send us your flyer and expect us to print it for you. You can either drop the flyers at the Cafe or mail them via USPS - - - just make sure to put to ATTN: BOOKING on whatever you leave/mail.

  • DO NOT POST FLYERS ON PUBLIC POLES, BENCHES, etc. in Durham because there is a city ordinance against it and we as the venue get the fine. If we get fined, we will expect you to reimburse us.

  • If you are part of a series/dual lineup, you should include the other artists involved in your promotions.

  • Please do your best to include the following, or something similar, in your promotions:
“Broad Street Café offers a full menu, wood-fired pizza, 30+ beers and full bar.  Check out www.TheBroadStreetCafe.com for hours, menu, directions and more.”

  • We spend a lot of time, energy, and money advertising your show. Please spend the time and energy to promote your show to help assure that you bring a good crowd. Remember, if we make money, you make money.

  • Please take a minute to "friend" us (or become a "fan") at our other sites (cross-promotion helps!). We'll do the same for you.
